Right now, the United States is currently the largest oil and gas producer in the world – and all the ash, grit, gunk, soot, and spills that come with that designation will keep wreaking havoc on our oceans until we take bold action to stop it.
Just last month at COP28, the annual United Nations climate change conference, the U.S. and nations around the world reached an historic agreement to phase out the use of fossil fuels, including a commitment by the United States to support a global fossil fuel phasedown by 2030 and a phaseout by 2050.
This is exactly the bold action we need. But it also means that we must keep the pressure on our leaders in government to make sure each and every benchmark on the way to that big goal is met.
Sign the petition: We must commit before it’s too late – no more fossil fuels!
Creating a timeline to the end of fossil fuel use is the first major step to preventing a global climate catastrophe and ensuring the survival of ocean animals from plankton to right whales and everything in between. This is the kind of innovative action that will get us to our goal, and that’s why we’re gathering support from ocean activists like you.
Sign the petition: We must phase out fossil fuels for good – stick to the commitment!
Thanks for joining us and fellow like-minded folks and organizations in your communities to make sure our elected officials know that we prioritize getting off of fossil fuels and putting our planet first.
We’ll keep you updated along the way,
Rob
